New Children’s Ministry Resources

From Gabrielle Wiebe, children’s pastor North Langley Community Church, BC

1. People serving in children’s ministries have been eagerly waiting for Willow Creek to publish early childhood curriculum. The day has finally arrived. Now you can order curriculum for children ages 3 – 5 called In the Beginning …. Growing Into a Life of Faith.

Through creative teaching, singing, visuals, motions and more your kids will be engaged throughout the entire lesson. Each kit includes two complete sets of lessons: one for Sunday school classes, and one for those using a Large Group/Small Group format.
For more information contact the promiseland website at www.promiselandonline.com

They have also released a brand new early childhood CD called Reach Up High and Touch the Sky.

2. We loved using the Promiseland curriculum, but we used it all up and they are not printing any more new stuff at the moment.

Check out My First Look (for children aged 1 – 4) and 252 Basics (for children aged kindergarten – grade 5) curriculum if your children’s ministry uses the large group/small group format.

It’s so easy to use. You pay a license fee for the year based on the number of children in your congregation and then you have internet access to downloadable lessons. You can edit right on line, without cutting and pasting from a CD or book.

Lessons are based on a virtue such as Responsibility or Obedience for the month. Each bible lesson expands on the theme to help children apply the concept to their lives.

Small group lessons for all ages include at least 5 different choices of activities. Each small group activity focuses on the different ways kids learn, one can be more visually oriented another more activity based. Most importantly, there’s always a Bible memory verse component.

Large Group Teaching for Kindergarten – grade 5 gives you three choices of lessons – one aimed for the younger grades and another aimed for the older grades. There’s even a family production with a drama that can be watched by the whole family on a family night, in between services, or produced just for the kids.

For more information look at www.myfirstlook.org and www.252basics.com
