Please do NOT feel like you have to answer these questions. You can answer one, all, or none of them. They are just there to help get you thinking. Feel free to share your thoughts and/or ask any questions you may have as you read this chapter.
Was there anything that stood out for you in this chapter?
Why is Paul on trial?
Agrippa asked Paul “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” (v28). What do you think of Paul's response?
How would you have responded (or do you) when you are asked similar things by the people you are sharing the good news with?

Here again we find more light on how Paul responded to his vision to take the gospel so that 'they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place amongst those who are sanctified by faith in me' verse 26:18. In verse 20 he says 'I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds'.
This message included turning their back on sin, turning to God and the proof of this was that their deeds would reflect this. Faith without works is dead. No easy beliefism in Paul's message. Salvation is not a free ticket to heaven but a change in direction and a transformation in living.
And what was the response ? verse 21 - 'That is why the Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me.
Also, how did Festus respond ? He said Paul was insane.
I don't know how we cannot expect to proclaim the true gospel and not upset both the religious and the non-religious. Some will be mad, some sad but yet some will be glad.
I will enter His courts with thanksgiving in my heart.
I will enter His courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the Lord hath made
I will rejoice for he hath made me glad !
He hath made me glad
He hath made me glad
I will rejoice, for He hath made me glad !!! |
