Post Welcome to our redesigned forum!  Posted Feb 7, 2004; 6:06 pm

If you've visited this forum before, welcome back! I hope you find the changes and additions useful. Some things have moved around, so here's some tips on where to find things:

  • The forum for discussing the Rite and Pilgrimage study conference has been moved to the Discuss MB Distinctives classroom.

  • The Discipleship Ministries forums, including Children's Ministry and Adult Ministry, can now be found in the Offices (Leadership Forums) section.

The new forum also has some new features. Aside from the obvious changes to the page design and new forum categories, here's what has changed "under the hood":

  • Email addresses are now protected by default. Unless you choose to display your email address, it will only be visible to the administrator. This means that you should not receive any junk mail because of your account here.

  • Easy Bible references. To make a Bible reference link to the full text of that passage, use the format [bible]Genesis 1[/bible]. It will display as Genesis 1.

  • New friends list. A friends list allows you to keep a list of the people you contact most often. If someone is on your friends list, it is easier to send them a PM, and you can customize your privacy settings so that friends can see your email and other info that isn't available to everyone. To add someone to your friends list, click the button below one of their posts. If someone is already on your friends list, clicking the button will remove them.

  • New ignore list. An ignore list allows you to hide messages from people whose posts are likely to raise your blood pressure. Although its use is discouraged for all but the most extreme cases, it is there for those who need it. To add someone to your ignore list, click the button below one of their posts. To stop ignoring someone, view their profile and click the button in it.

  • New profile information. When you click the Profile/Messages link in the top menu bar, you will be taken to your personal control panel. When you click the Profile tab you will find a number of new options, such as entering your gender, birthday and country. Of course, none of this information is required, but you can enter it if you wish. Unless you change your Privacy settings, the information entered will be visible to all registered users, and your country and gender will be visible to everyone who views your posts.

There's many other small changes as well. Feel free to experiment and test things out. If you encounter any problems or have questions about how to do something, post a message in Feedback and Forum Help.
